Reggie is the smallest of our foals and is quite cheeky. When he first arrived, he got into a bit of trouble with the older mares, but now he's very well behaved!
Updates
Reggie is doing really well, and has really grown in confidence. When he first arrived we thought he was very shy, and he didn’t seem to mix with the other ponies very well. However, we soon realized that actually he is really quite cheeky, and confident around people. He is very independent and although he likes being around the other ponies he is very happy to be on his own!
Reggie is now happy to be stroked on the head whilst he eats hay, and although he is still a bit nervous of people he seems to really want to be around people. He is such a character, and is going to make a fantastic child’ pony eventually.
As you can see from the photo below Reggie loves eating Hay, and has quite a big belly at the moment. He has also grown a really long, fluffy coat for Winter!

Reggie is a very cautious pony. He is slowly coming in to himself but is quite low down in the herd pecking order so does get moved on a bit by the other ponies. He is a real sweetie though, he is shy to start with but will allow you to stroke him. Natalie and Kathryn put his headcollar on in the stable. Kathryn initially spent half an hour sat with him whilst he ate hay and slowly got his trust and was able to stroke him all over, we then put 2 piles of hay in the stable Kathryn was sat on one, Natalie on the other, he could walk to either. Kathryn stroked Reggie with the headcollar and slowly did it up around his ears, he then wandered to Natalie who did up the nose band and voila, I swear he didn’t even know he had one on!!

Reggie has turned in to a very brave pony who will always say hello to us now rather than run away! We can stroke him all over but at the moment he isn’t too keen on the equine podiatrist trimming his feet so we are working on that that the moment. We have discovered that he has an undershot jaw so we will be taking extra care to make sure he gets the feed he needs throughout the winter. Although he can eat he is very slow so we need to be sure the others don’t steal all his food! In the summer he suffered from a locked stifle though this problem now seems to have corrected itself as he has grown. We hope to have found Reggie a home with Basil and with any luck they will be moving there in the next month or two, in the meantime we will be doing a lot of work with them so they are ready to leave at that time.
