Updates
Socks has settled in really well, and is the most confident of the ponies. We have been working with him quite a bit to get him used to being stroked all over, and he is very happy to be stroked and loves sniffing us in return!
He is a real character and is happy to be around both people and the other ponies. He is really friendly with Basil and they spend a lot of time grazing, grooming and playing together.
We will be getting Socks used to wearing a headcollar and being led around over Christmas and the New Year. This should be relatively straight forward as he is so happy to be around people now!
Socks has grown a long fluffy coat to keep him warm throughout the winter, and he also has a bit of a fat belly at the moment (he’s been eating a bit too much of the hay!)

Socks was the first one we put a headcollar on, he was munching on a bale of hay and Kathryn sat next to him and just put it on! He was so used to human contact by then he didn’t mind at all. He is very brave with people and you can do a lot with him. He still needs careful slow movements, as they all do, when you first approach him but once you are there he loves a good stroke and will pick up his front feet. His fur is very soft at the moment as his summer coat is coming through and the winter one is moulting away. He loves a good scratch and will happily groom you whilst you scratch him!

Socks has happily been rehomed with his best friend Star. Socks and Star have a very special bond and we are pleased we could rehome them together.
In the year we had Socks he turned from a petrified foal into a very brave and cheeky pony (Kathryn still needs to buy a new hat having had it stolen and destroyed by him)! We had great fun with him whilst he was with us and we learnt a lot from him as well has him learning from us! He always says hello and has a real habit of trying to nibble you. He also loves toggles (again Kathryn has the bruise to prove this following one from her jumper being pinged back at her after he’d tried to pull off)! As you can see he is very naughty!!! He joined Star when they went to Tiverton Show, he was slightly more cautious than Star when leaving the trailer but once he saw Star safe and happy he soon joined him. As long as he has Star by his side in new situations he is very brave, though he sends Star in first to check the situation is safe!
He has settled in to his new home near Okehampton very well where he and Star share a field with two goats and a horse called Marco. When he left us we could do anything with him, he was happy to be caught and have his headcollar taken on and off, be led around, be groomed, have his feet attended to for picking out and by the equine podiatrist. He is a very confident and secure pony which is exactly how we want to see our ponies when we rehome them.
