Date Of Birth :
July 2005
Place of birth
Widecombe-in-the-Moor
Personality
Trixie has only been with us for a short while but has settled in well, and is getting on with the other ponies. She is one of the smallest of the ponies and is very sweet. She has a beautiful black mane and tail and a long fluffy coat!
Trixie will be staying with us permanently and will form part of our base herd. We hope that when we take on next years foals Trixie will be able to help give them some of the stability they’ll need. When Trixie is around four years old we will start getting her used to wearing a saddle and being ridden.
Although she sometimes hides behind her friend Pixie, Trixie is getting quite brave around us now.

Trixie is a tricky little mare! She was the last pony we put a headcollar on, we were very cautious with her as we felt she would be very nervous and if we stressed her it could be dangerous to her health or us. As it was Natalie spent a lot of time sat with her over the weeks and gradually she allowed us to stroke her neck, finally one day Kathryn and Natalie were sat outside with the hay whilst the ponies were eating and Kathryn managed to stroke her with the headcollar and put it around her neck, of course at that point it started raining! We got her in to the stable and did the same as we had done with Reggie, again once it was on I don’t think she even noticed! She is a very funny character, she is not keen on being stroked and tries to nip you away like she would other ponies, if you touch her nose she reacts like she just got stung by a bee! She will need a lot of time and one on one attention in the future. However she was fine to worm when we caught her and didn’t get stressed at all so she may keep surprising us!

Trixie has come on a long way. We can now catch her and put on and take off her headcollar, we can groom her and pick out her feet and she will stand happily for the equine podiatrist (feet trimmer). She will also follow us around the field as she knows we will always eventually give in and give her a scratch! Trixie has decided to use Rosie, one of Natalie’s ponies as a role model. Rosie is a very bossy mare who is always scratching herself or chasing the other ponies away and Trixie can now be seen demonstrating this behaviour. Although she is the smallest pony she is often seen chasing away and bossing around those twice her size! She loves human attention but does have some entertaining facial expressions if she does not like something!
