Our six boys were moved to a new field at the end of May.  They have grown an awful lot since they’ve been there and the extra grass has done them the world of good.  They have started playing a lot more and they are full of energy.  They have also started to form pair-bonds and we are seeing real friendships develop.  Star and Socks, for example, are very good friends and they spend all of their time together.  When one of them tries to get some sleep and lies down, the other one won’t leave them alone, and so they just keep eating and playing together happily! 

The boys were all castrated, vaccinated and had their feet trimmed on the 27th of June.  (See news page for more details.)  it was a pretty stressful day for all of us but the boys all coped okay and are now fully recovered.  They all have to be castrated before they can be re-homed.  This can be very costly, but luckily our vets , Moorgate Vets, did the operations at a very reasonable price.  We also received a very generous donation which covered the cost of all our castrations. 

Our two fillies Pixie and Trixie have been moved to some different grazing for a while as they were unable to stay with the boys (the boys were getting a bit too “Frisky!”)  They are in a field with some older horses which is very good for them as it gives them stability and older friends to learn from.  Pixie is the more confident of the two ponies and has bonded with us really well.  She loves a good scratch and we have taught her to itch us back with her top lip!  Trixie is more nervous and still isn’t quite sure she wants to be around people yet.  She finds it hard to trust people and even new horses and so we need to spend much more time around her building up trust.  She is a very pretty filly, and we all adore her, but she still has quite a wild side to her!!!
