After the incident with the hay, we decided that we would try and get the ponies to eat hay from next to us every day. Today was the third time and they are getting very very relaxed about being around us and eating hay. It’s really good for them because they are making the association between eating nice yummy hay, and being around us. Yesterday they were a bit edgy, and if we moved too much they would step back and look a bit worried, but now they seem a lot more relaxed. They are happy to even have a bit of a sniff of our wellies if they are feeling extra-brave! We can now move about and talk and they are not really worried at all. We even bought a well behaved dog to sit with us next to the hay, and after the initial funny looks at the dog, they soon settled down. We believe that it is really good to get them used to as many different things as possible, as they are going to encounter all sorts of things in their lives.
